Renée Zellweger obviously did a great job by adopting the mannerisms of Judy Garland. I am mainly referring to the way she talks and moves as I believe the make up had a great impact also and could have been worn by other actresses. But Renée Zellweger is good in this role and I won´t take that away from her.
This being said, this biopic is not different from any other. There are parts performed by a young girl so we can see her evolution through the film: we see Judy´s life at her beginning, at her peak, then with the first challenges and the randsom of the success.
Even without knowing Judy Garland´s life and career (which was my case) it is all very predictable. I do not want to give any spoiler but the very last scene is as expected to bring the last tears. It did not work on me though. I did appreciate that the film stops decently, leaving a rather fair image of Judy Garland, without being too condescending either.
I am giving a 4 for Renée Zellweger interpretation and another 2 because it is overall pleasant to watch. But again, the story is very predictable and easy to forget (reason why I am writing my review while it is still fresh.

I was waiting for this song through the WHOLE movie and when she started singing the song, I literally broke down crying. You can hear the pain in her voice and the way shes sitting on the stage shows her vulnerability at rock bottom. The most tragic part is that she didnt get herself there, it was Hollywood. Used her and tossed her away, like she was nothing. When the audience starts singing its such a symbol of how much people truly loved her and her spirit.
